5 not-so-great things about 'Players'

This blog is about only those things which as a viewer I didn’t like..

When the bad guys already got accepted as protagonists in Indian films, there was no need of showing the humane side of the players.. in fact the most inhumane player – Neil Nitin Mukesh impressed the most.
Yes it is true, not only recently but since 70’ and 80’ whenever our hero goes out for a theft, we love it. Kohinoor, Jewel Thief, Don2, Roop Ki Raani.. etc etc.. Accepted that hero always brings in some reason to steal but the trend is changing !! You can change too..

So there is the quick NOT-TO-DO check list for Abbas-Mustan’s Players.
1. Remove good motives of Robbery i.e. Victor’s dream project, Ronny’s daughter.. make everything emotionless, professional. Though Sonam’s reason to join for Victor’s death was justified.

2. Take actors which can act. For star power, couple of them are ok. like rather than investing in Abhishek, Sonam, Bobby, Neil and Bipasha, pay more to 2 stars and 3 actors.. because among the 5 only Niel and Bipasha acted.

3. Bipasha’s Engine work and Bobby’s illusion on train windows were something too too much of science fiction to digest. Agreed that Indian audience is watching science fiction and gradually accepting such techno gigs but at the same time people have started applying logics also, the flags on the windows were clearly showing not spraying the solutions on the entire window.

4. Reduce songs and reduce the length of the movie. Sonam’s gig on Bobby, Bipasha’s dance for Russian general and Sonam-Abhishek drunken songs were too too too tiring and waste of time. Instead sonam and bipasha could have used smart lines to get their men. I like the talking people do the night clubs.

5. Instead of simply showing Sonam’s tense face while hacking scenes, more theoretical information about how it is possible to find Spider would be better.

6. And last but not the least, you made the robbery seems pretty easy. People watch Mission Impossible franchise in India now. If not making the mission impossible, at least make it difficult.

Note: The objective of this blog is to pick only loop holes and not-so-great things about the movie and NOT TO review the entire movie. General ratings from different critics holds true about the movie.

Ghost Protocol MI4 Goofs !!!

1. In the climax sequence, at the multilevel car park in India, all the cars are left-hand drive.
2. Ethan Hunt and his team checks in into 130th floor of Burj Khalifa. But its a commercial floor, and the actual hotel is in 40th floor.
3. The number plates used on the cars in the movie in Dubai have the numbers first and the letter last.It shld be other way.
4. The Nuclear Launch Device used by Hendricks has a Russian keyboard, however the User Interface Screen is in English.
5. Climax was in Mumbai but door of electrical room was marked in Kannada(not a language of Mumbai).
6. The cars in parking lot in Mumbai did not have Indian number plates..
7. Hendricks brought a person to verify the codes. if the verifier came just to verify the authenticity of the docs and not the codes, scrambled code would be sufficient.. and if he himself knew the codes then what was the need of getting the codes from Moreau ??

Rockstar: Criticism for Imtiyaz Ali !!

Before watching Rockstar I heard from everyone that they instantly became ardent fan of Rockstar, Ranbir and Imtiyaz Ali.. After watching the movie I started wondering that even though the movie was brilliantly made and beautifully cinematographed there were few small gaps to mind which stop this movie from being a cult movie to be remembered for long.

As I said this blog is written only for those bits and pieces in a movie which I don’t like, here is my take on it:

1. The climax: End of the movie missed the exhilarating experience of Rock On.. I agree the climax was meant to show the extreme apathy of Jordan.. but there was not a single stretch of music for even 5 minutes. First, Nadaan Parindey was not the best song of the movie and secondly the repeated and lengthy showups of the puppet actress made it even more difficult to digest.
My advice: Climax could have had at least 3 songs.. Nadaan parindey, phir se udd chala and jo bhi main.. !! instead of showing old clips of the actress, contrast between Ranbir’s sad face and crowd’s appreciative madness could have been shown. Ranbir dreaming about actress could be ok but very limited. Note: The start of the movie and entry of Jordan on stage set the expectation that the final concert would be a treat !!!

2. Timeline of the movie: The movie went back and forth in time many time.. and that made it very interesting but at some places I started losing the timeline of the movie. E.g. Jordan torn off the contract happened before he got a chance to go Amsterdam or after it. A couple of more scenes were not very clear.

3. Actress: Now that is something everyone is talking about. Imtiyaz you could get any decent actress with the same personality and with better acting skills.. infact the press reporter (the lady who acted in Yeh Salli Zindagi) would be equally charming in that role.

4. Music: I don’t know how much Imtiyaz has to contribute in the music but apart from 3-4 male songs I personally did not like other songs. The music had diversity but lost the Rock part..
My Take: Songs like Sadda Haq could have had more electric sound in it..

5. The Broken Heart: Heart broke was the reason for Jordan to become a real Rockstar but was it because of his family or because of the girl?
